Today was the end of our school's Spirit Week.
On Monday, we had a lot of fun dressing for Mismatched Monday. The students were happy to share that they were allowed to dress themselves! We had fun playing some matching games during the day. We matched socks, numbers, letters, and sight words. We also talked about being independent. We made a list of what we can do at home by ourselves. Some of the ideas were:
Brush my teeth - Kayla
Get dressed- Michael
Put on my PJs- Molly
Set the table- Chris
Put on my shoes- Mikey
Clean up my room- Aleeah
After that, we read Good Thing You're Not an Octopus. It was silly to read about animals trying to brush their teeth, get dressed, and take a bath.
Wednesday was all about sports. We wore our favorite jerseys, team shirt, and/or hats. Wednesday was also our buddy reading day. We met our 3rd grade reading buddies at the library and looked for sport themed books. A lot of the students found football books and some found soccer and hockey books. They especially liked looking through books of their favorite sports team.
Friday was our pep rally. The whole school gathered in the gym to watch the teachers demonstrate some Minute To Win It games. Then we went back to our room and played some of the games with Mrs. Smith's Kindergarten class. I think everyone liked the cookie challenge the best because they were excited to eat the Oreo. We also played Full of Hot Air, Junk in the Trunk, and Johnny Apple Stack. Maybe you could try out some Minute To Win It games out at home.
This week was full of special activities and lots of fun! Ask your child what his/her favorite day and activity was. Have a great weekend and see you on Monday for another great week.
